This monograph presents architect Phillippe Meyer’s Villa QDC 175, a lake house completed in 2016 and located in Geneva, Switzerland.
With clear references to Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House and Villa Tugendhat, as well as Louis Kahn’s distinction of created and served spaces, the house acts as a metaphor within its context. The architecture’s lines draw implicit parallels with the lake. Open and light, with a continuous glass facade wrapping the volume, the building is situated on a gentle slope a short distance from the water’s edge and set on a base of travertine stone, blurring the boundary between interior and exterior through its reflection of the water.
